Updates for the Lexus ES have been revealed for Europe, although Australia is yet to be confirmed.
Lexus has revealed a series of updates for the ES sedan, the Japanese luxury car maker revealing an MY23 version of its BMW 5 Series rival with a new trim level and technology.
The Lexus ES adds ‘F Sport Design’ to its trim level line up, featuring black grille and air intake surrounds at the front. There’s also F Sport badging side and rear, but the biggest changes Lexus has introduced are inside.
Infotainment has been updated to be faster and easier to use. There’s cloud-based navigation, improved voice recognition and wireless smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Voice command “Hey Lexus” appears as the ‘on-board assistant’. Responding to commands to commands such as ‘make a phone call’ and ‘adjust the audio’, Lexus says it can also respond to comments such as “I’m cold”, adjusting the air-conditioning accordingly.
Through updated data communications, Lexus’ e-Care health check report can monitor the ES and share the data with Lexus retailers. A Lexus centre can then make contact to provide help with servicing and maintenance.
Owners can now access the ES remotely using the Lexus Link app. It can lock or unlock doors, turn on the hazard lights and set the ambient temperature inside the cabin.
Lexus has also revised the centre console in the ES with two cup holders, USB-A and USB-C ports and a repositioning of the wireless charging tray.
We’ll see production of the updated Lexus ES start in August 2022 for Europe, with Lexus Australia yet to confirm the updates locally.
