aria-label="TAG Heuer Indy Detail 1"TAG Heuer’s latest limited edition pays homage to America’s most iconic race

As part of racing’s “Triple Crown”, which includes 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indianapolis 500 is considered one of the oldest and most-loved motor races in the world. To celebrate 16 years as the race’s official timekeeper, as well as its 160th anniversary year, TAG Heuer has unveiled a unique limited-edition timepiece that pays homage to the open-wheel racing event.

aria-label="TAG Heuer Indy Front"The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Indy 500 2020 Special Edition is the latest to join TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection. Dating back to 1987, this collection is a long-running celebration of the sport closest to the Swiss brand’s heart and each of the Formula 1 timepieces can be recognised by their bold designs and robust details, aimed squarely at life in the fast lane. For example, look to the Indy 500 edition’s durable rubber strap, which is specially designed for flexibility and fit (and according to TAG Heuer, specifically, when worn over a racing suit). The simplicity of the black and white face is also an impeccable choice for those who seek to make a statement without relying on bling-factor or complicated designs. In fact, with this edition, only limited to 1500 units, TAG Heuer has put its money where its mouth is and enlisted IndyCar series driver, Alexander Rossi, to wear it at this year’s event.

aria-label="TAG Heuer Indy Back"In honour of Indianapolis’ legendary nickname, “The Brickyard”, the 43 mm chronograph features a textured brick and asphalt-like panel motif illustrated on the dial. The Indy 500 logo is displayed on the 6 o’clock subdial and “Indy 500” is engraved in red on the black ceramic bezel. The case is made of black, sandblasted DLC steel and the face is topped with flat sapphire crystal. The road-tested movement is quartz-powered and shock-resistant, and water-resistant up to 200 metres.

aria-label="TAG Heuer Indy500 Hero"The Indy 500 2020 Special Edition joins a long line of editions that have celebrated the relationship between TAG Heuer and motorsport over the years. Beyond IndyCar, this includes partnerships with the FIA Formula E World Championship, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the World Endurance Championships, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, and of course, as the preferred timepiece of icons like Steve McQueen and Ayrton Senna.
