Mitsubishi Ralliart returns as a styling upgrade only

Mitsubishi shows new Ralliart models in Thailand, but it remains a soft re-entry for the racing brand.

Mitsubishi’s famed Ralliart performance subbrand has returned but only as an aesthetic upgrade, for now.

Finding fame during Mitsubishi’s triumphant rally and Dakar racing success, Ralliart was also the name associated with pumped-up Mitsubishis on the road, particularly the Lancer Evolution.

However, its return today is not quite the same, with Mitsubishi Thailand showing three models decked out with Ralliart stickers and go-fast-looking pieces, but nothing else. It means the Japanese brand does not yet have an answer to the likes of Toyota’s Gazoo Racing, which has bonafide performance models under its label.

Shown in Thailand are the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Triton, dressed with red, white and black themes decals, red highlights on the bumper, red mud flaps, and unique black alloy wheels. The Triton versions are for both the single and dual-cab variants.

The announcement comes after Mitsubishi announced earlier this year it intends to return to motorsport, meaning we might yet see proper performance models for the road.
