Toyota today confirmed plans for its new LandCruiser 300 Series which replaces the previous 200 Series and brings a variety of factory accessories.

As previously reported, Toyota Australia has wound back pre-orders to ensure that stock is allocated fairly and accurately, though it says potential buyers can test drive one of the 500 demonstrators distributed around the country to individual dealers just for the purpose.

The first batch of customers will, unfortunately, be in for a wait, though, with Toyota suggesting stock which will be produced from next month won’t arrive in Australia until 2022. New orders will be in for further delays into the second half of next year, and then beyond.

Demand for the new ‘Cruiser is strong despite a price hike and the axing the lauded 4.5-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel engine for a smaller, though more powerful and gruntier, 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo.

While stock is a wait away Toyota Australia has shown a new raft of accessories for customers to option. The catalogues include bullbars, snorkels, roof racks and LED light bars.

The new bullbars began testing over five years ago, according to Toyota Australia, and include integrated LED light bars wired into the factory harness. The bars have been testing extensively not just for strength and durability, but also for airflow into the engine bay which will be crucial given the new hot vee setup of the V6 engine, which places two turbines inside the V-channel of the six-cylinder motor. Temperatures will be very high when working hard, such as when towing in the hot Australian summer.

Much of the testing was completed in Australia and Toyota Australia says thermal management was at the forefront for some of the data, including with and without accessories which are all factory-backed by Toyota’s standard five-year warranty.

There are also roof racks and varying finishes for the bullbars to match each other. Underneath the front of LandCruiser attached to the bullbar is a 5mm protection plate and option for a four-tonne Warn winch integrated behind the bar.
