Gemera gets going in an official video from Koenigsegg featuring its founder.

Do you have a spare three minutes and 42 seconds? Koenigsegg has published a video of the boss himself, Christian von Koenigsegg, firing up and driving the first completed prototype of the Gemera, a mega-GT due in 2023 with 1268kW from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo triple and three EV motors.

The electric motor, named the ‘Quark’, is made out of 300M steel and produces the equivalent of 250kW and 600Nm. Koenigsegg claims the 28.5kg motor has the best power-to-weight ratio in the industry.

Koenigsegg says it wants the motor to be used in a variety of applications, including electric vehicle powertrains, aerospace and the marine industry. A version of the motor is set to be used in the Koenigsegg Gemera.

However, it is the unique three-cylinder engine in the video that is the most astounding thing, with a very unique growl that would be absolutely screaming at 8000rpm.

We’ve yet to verify its 402km/htop speed, 1.9sec 0-100km/h time or 50km EV range, but we do now know this: it doesn’t sound like the Ford Puma.
