Mercedes AMG GT four door 3Beneath the disguise we anticipate that cosmetic tweaks will be few and far between – the only appreciable difference between this test mule and the current production model is a new front bumper with slightly larger intakes. However, buyers will likely be able to choose from a few extra paint finishes and a couple of new alloy wheel designs.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is closely related to the recently facelifted AMG E 63 S – meaning inside will feature a new sports steering wheel and a similar range of trim and upholstery revisions. The coupe should also adopt the saloon’s latest dual-screen 12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system.

Mercedes AMG GT four door 4Like the current car, Mercedes will continue to offer the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe with either a 320kW 3.0-litre straight-six mild-hybrid powertrain or a 477kW twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine. However, rumours are circulating that the updated model will also be available with a new plug-in hybrid system – potentially lifted from the upcoming AMG S 73 e.

Mercedes AMG GT four door 5The powertrain will be based on the same 4.0-litre V8 engine already used in the AMG GT 4-Door, albeit with the addition of a lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor mounted somewhere along the car’s four-wheel-drive system.

Mercedes AMG GT four door 7Mercedes-AMG is yet to officially announce any specs for the new performance PHEV powertrain, but executives have previously hinted that it’ll generate more than 600kW – and that it’ll be capable of travelling more than 100km’s on electric power alone.
