Lexus has given the LS a big update to the infotainment system to take it to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Although the current fifth-generation LS launched last year, Lexus has been quick to update its flagship sedan’s interior technology. The 2023 model will get the latest version of Link Pro multimedia system that will offer extra functionality through the 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard, as is the new “Hey Lexus” voice command feature.

Remote operation of air conditioning, unlocking and locking the doors and hazard-light activation is now available through the Lexus Premium Link app. The app also provides access to driving analytics, information on any mechanical or electrical issues, driving technique suggestions as well as a car-finding search function. A four-year subscription to the app is standard on all LS models (Australian details are yet to be confirmed).

Lexus says its range-topping luxury limousine delivers “stress-free driving” thanks to its cloud-based Premium Connectivity service. The LS will essentially offer live traffic data, along with road and parking information through the integrated sat-nav.

A front-mounted camera system provides a similar view to Land Rover’s “Transparent Bonnet” which Lexus says helps with parking and manoeuvering in tight spaces. Lexus was one of the first manufacturers to release a self-parking system for the LS back in 2007 and now the Parking Assist function in the LS has been tweaked by adding the “central line” of the car.

The interior has received a physical update as well because some of the infotainment system’s buttons have been relocated and there’s a new smartphone holder.
