Hyundai is bringing its mid-size SUV up to date with a facelift due to hit dealers in 2024.

The Hyundai Tucson has undergone an update and the Korean car maker feels it can make the Tucson even better. These spy shots give us a glimpse of some of th expected changes to come.

The third-generation Tucson has been with us since 2020 so the timing of a refresh seems about right. Don’t expect to see a huge change regarding powertrains, the Tucson sits on the same N3 platform as the Kia Sportage so pure-electric power won’t be in the offing.

Our selection of spy images of this test car doesn’t reveal too much about the updated design. The intricate headlight and grille arrangement looks to be retained and we expect to see the angular surfacing along the body as well. The Tucson could potentially take on more of the Ioniq-inspired design language seen on the new Kona, with some pixelated lights.

Hyundai’s new Kona has upgraded to dual 12.3-inch screens sitting next to each other on the dash – similar to the Kia Sportage’s layout. The 10.25-inch infotainment screen on the current Tucson will probably be kept for this facelift, however, the car perhaps gaining some more modest infotainment design tweaks and new functions.

Power options currently range from conventional internal combustion units to mild-hybrid, full-hybrid or plug-in hybrid options, utilising a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and either six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or seven-speed automatic transmissions. These should all be carried over to the new facelifted Tucson, although Hyundai may improve on the PHEV’s maximum range.

Given this is our first look at the updated Tucson, we don’t expect a full reveal until later this year with an on sale date well into 2024.
