The new 2025 BMW M3 Sedan and 2025 BMW M3 Touring are set to hit Australian shores in Q4 this year, boasting upgrades that should keep enthusiasts satisfied.

The refreshed M3 Sedan’s update follows its late 2021 Australian launch in Competition form, while the M3 Touring has been on sale here since early 2023.

Both M heroes have been well received here, with the sedan besting Alfa’s fan-favourite Giulia Q in our 2021 comparison, while the Touring held its own very well in our comparison with the bigger, louder and more expensive Audi RS6.

Increased power for M xDrive variants

The six-cylinder turbo petrol engine in the all-wheel-drive BMW M3 xDrive variants now delivers 390kW, up from 375kW. This aligns the M3 models with the upcoming M4 high-performance Coupé and Convertible.

Torque is unchanged at 650Nm, with power delivered to all four wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive claims a 0-100 km/h of 3.5 seconds, while the Touring variant crosses the line in 3.6 seconds. Both variants now reach 0-200 km/h 0.5 seconds faster, at 11.8 and 12.4 seconds respectively.

Rear-wheel drive options

Without xDrive grip to launch it, the rear-wheel-drive BMW M3 Sedan retains its 353kW/550Nm output, and offers a six-speed manual transmission – a unique choice in this segment for driving purists.

Enhanced styling and digital features

All models feature newly designed headlights, alloy wheels, a motorsport-derived flat-bottom steering wheel, and the latest BMW Operating System 8.5.
