The refreshed 2025 Hyundai i30 N hot hatch scores new tech, more safety, and subtly tweaked styling

The updated 2025 Hyundai i30 N, revealed in mid July, will reach Australia in August – priced from $50,000 before on-road costs.
The hot i30 N hatch first went on sale in Australia in 2018, while the current and very significant facelift launched in 2021 – joined at last by an automatic transmission. The line-up has also included a Fastback sedan model in its earlier years, replaced later by the i30 Sedan N.
For 2025, the i30 N hatch gets a number of small but notable styling tweaks, including a new matte-grey finish to its 19-inch forged wheels, a refreshed grille with Hyundai’s new ‘flat’ H logo, red inserts at the front and red skirts around the side, and a matte-black H logo at the rear.
Changes in the cabin include a big new 10.25-inch driver display with view panes for turbo boost gauges, a g-force meter, lap timer, and digital speedometer.
This screen joins the existing 10.25-inch main screen that already features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Satellite Navigation and DAB+ radio.
The tech upgrades continue with the arrival of USB-C ports – one in the front and two in the rear – along with rain-sensing wipers and electro-chromatic mirror as standard features.
Interior upgrades are rounded out with the addition of the N bucket seats newly trimmed in suede leather and Alcantara, while the gear shifter frame gets a new gloss-black finish to really accentuate all those fingerprints, dust and hair.
Driving is enhanced by the new red NGS (N Grin Shift) button on the steering wheel, taken from the i30 Sedan N and new Ioniq 5 N.
This button opens the taps on the i30 N’s power and torque, delivering 20-second boosts of both at max pour – along with the full “unbridled” exhaust note and more aggressive gear shifts.
Safety upgrades include updated Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), which uses front radar sensors and a windshield-mounted camera to scan for cars, pedestrians and now cyclists.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Driver Attention Warning and Multi-Collision Braking also appear as standard features.
Hyundai’s Bluelink remote connectivity with over-the-air updates has also finally arrived in the i30 N hatch, bringing the fllowing features:
- Automatic Collision Notification (ACN)
- Emergency Call (SOS) function
- Connected Routing – live traffic updates
- Alert services including geo-fencing, valet, speed & time alerts
- Remote control of climate and vehicle functions
- Navigation send to car
- Voice recognition for POI lookup, vehicle controls
- Vehicle settings management
The i30 N’s powertrain and chassis is unchanged for the 2025 model year, with its 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine again producing 206kW at 6000rpm and 392Nm between 2100 and 4700rpm.
Buyers still also have the choice of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed dual-clutch auto, sending power to the front wheels.
