Update – New Ranger Spy Pics
Following the unveiling of Ford’s camouflage wrap for test mules of the new Ranger (story below), the first spy pics have come in.
Spotted in Thailand where right-hand drive production for Australia will commence, images have been posted to the Ranger6G.com forum.
It shows a design similar to what we’ve been expecting, with a front end like that of both the Ford F-Series and new Ford Maverick, housing C-shaped headlights and a wide grille that’s even blockier than now.

Ford’s new generation Ranger ute will begin testing on public Australian roads ahead of its unveiling later this year and the model’s eventual launch in 2022.
A special camouflage has been used for Ranger test mules that will be hitting the road, inspired by the Bronco R’s block-style livery. The unique pattern which illuminates at night is the work of Ford Australia’s Ranger exterior designer, Lee Imrie who has been at Ford since 2018 and kicked off his career with a 12-month design internship at GM Holden in 2016.
With Ford’s Ranger and Everest test cars a regular photographic target of enthusiasts in Australia it’s no wonder the Blue Oval isn’t bothering to hide what the car is. Although the company says that the camo disguises some features of the car we can clearly see the C-shaped headlights upfront and make out most of the new tailgate design. The #NextGenRanger hashtag on the side is an indication of how fans can keep track of sightings, and our own quick test of the QR code takes users to the new Ford Ranger page on Ford’s website.
Other details that can be made out from the teaser images are that this particular car is a dual-cab running on 18-inch alloys with Goodyear Terriroty AT/S tyres, and is equipped with a sports bar and tow bar underneath.
Ford plans to unveil the new Ranger later this year and anticipates a 2022 launch in Australia.
