Cupra’s fully electric shooting brake sports car will be influenced by fans of the brand.

Cupra has teased the next addition to its electric car line-up, a sports car-cum-shooting brake, with the striking DarkRebel concept car.

The concept pointing towards the Spanish brand’s future flagship EV was presented as a hologram at the unveiling of Cupra’s second all-electric car, the Tavascan, in Berlin.

That means there’s no physical model for us to examine at the moment, but the virtual concept did appear to share some styling cues with the all-new Tavascan. Namely, the three-triangle headlight signature and the illuminated Cupra logo on its incredibly aggressive nose.

At the rear, the DarkRebel has a full-width light bar with another illuminated Cupra emblem in the middle, plus a particularly enormous diffuser. The design overall utilises many signature Cupra traits, including heavily sculpted bodywork and plenty of copper accents.

Inside, the driver and passenger are separated by a central spine, much like in the Tavascan. There’s also sporty bucket seats and a ‘gamifying steering wheel’.

Like many concept cars we expect the design to be toned down significantly for the road-going model, but Cupra is offering fans of the brand the opportunity to influence the design of the car through it’s new “Hyper Configurator” that allows users to create their own versions of the DarkRebel.

Technical details for the DarkRebel or the production version it hopes to spawn haven’t been released yet, nor has a target date for the rather unique electric car’s launch.

The DarkRebel would be the Spanish brand’s fourth all-electric car after the Born hatchback, Tavascan coupe-SUV and an affordable entry-level EV already previewed by the UrbanRebel concept.
