The legendary MG Metro 6R4 is being reimagined as an all-electric show car.
The MG Metro 6R4 is one of the all-time icons of the rallying world and now MG has revealed that the 4×4 Group B machine from the 1980s has inspired a new concept car called the EX4. The concept underpinned by powertrain from the new MG4 XPower hot hatch.
MG has given us a few teasers of the EX4 concept ahead of its debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed. The shadowy images show an MG4 with radically different aerodynamics thanks to an aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler combination, flared wheel arches and aero-disc wheels.
Powering the EX4 is the new MG4 XPower’s electric drivetrain. It’s a dual-motor system putting out 320kW and 600Nm of torque. Along with the wider body we should see a bespoke chassis set up with revised springs and dampers, anti-roll bars and brakes.
MG says the EX4 “boldly reimagines the Metro 6R4 rally legend of the 1980s”. The car will be unveiled at the First Glance paddock at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where it’ll be accompanied by the new MG Cyberster electric roadster.
