Isuzu partners with Arctic Trucks to create tough-truck D-Max.
Isuzu has shown off the toughest version of the new D-Max yet with the Isuzu D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35. Vehicle specialist Arctic Trucks has worked its magic on the previous generation D-Max in the past, but this is the first time we’ve seen the AT35 conversion added to the new model.
While the AT35 D-Max has never been available locally, this previews the potential for an Australian D-Max tough truck if Isuzu were to partner with a local specialist, much like Nissan has with Premcar and the Navara PRO-4X Warrior.
Changes to the D-Max include the addition of a strengthened chassis, raised Bilstein suspension and those large-diameter 35-inch tyres on exclusive alloy wheels. Wider wheelarches cover the tyres, while extended running boards help with access to the raised double-cab interior.
Inside, there are Arctic Trucks-branded headrests, floor mats and sill covers, while the rest of the cab is generously equipped, thanks to the fact that the AT35 is based on top-spec V-Cross trim.
Under the skin, the AT35 uses the same running gear as the rest of the D-Max with switchable four-wheel drive and rear locking differential.
Isuzu Australia has not made the AT35 available in the past although it is adapted to the right-hand drive UK version. Following the success of the all-new D-Max launch in 2021, it feels very exciting to be launching another new vehicle in 2022. Through using Arctic Trucks’ impressive expertise alongside the D-Max’s impressive abilities the AT35 is truly an outstanding truck.”

Also revealed at the CV Show was a new chassis cab conversion for the D-Max. The Utility Tipper Conversion has been carried out by conversion specialist TGS, which has taken an Extended Cab D-Max and added an aluminium load bed that is raised by using a hydraulic jack on a double-action scissor lift.
This can be operated from a distance, thanks to the remote lead that means you don’t need to be standing right next to the tipper when it’s in operation. Also fitted to the show truck is an air suspension system which boosts comfort while increasing the truck’s gross vehicle weight to 3.5 tonnes, but still maintaining a one tonne payload.
