The electrified revolution continues with BMW’s newest addition to its electric lineup, the BMW iX2 eDrive20.

Launched in late 2023, this all-electric coupe-SUV is set to redefine the driving experience with a blend of sportiness and efficiency.

Breaking away from convention, the BMW iX2 eDrive20 distinguishes itself as a sportier variant of the iX1 SUV. The eDrive20 features a single motor mounted on the front axle, deviating from the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout of the xDrive30. Despite utilising the same 64.8kWh battery, the eDrive20 boasts an impressive 477-kilometer range, surpassing its all-wheel-drive counterpart by 29 kilometres and outperforming the iX1 eDrive20 by 1.6 kilometres.

The single electric motor delivers 204 kW, providing a swift acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds—figures identical to the iX1 eDrive20. While this falls short of the 309 bhp iX2 xDrive30’s 5.6-second 0-100 km/h time, the eDrive20 maintains a balance between performance and efficiency.

The eDrive20 shares its charging infrastructure with the xDrive30, featuring a maximum charging rate of 130 kW. BMW highlights the efficiency of fast-charging, noting that a mere ten minutes can add an impressive 120 kilometres to the range, ensuring convenience and practicality for the driver.

Reflecting BMW’s commitment to a seamless driving experience, the iX2 eDrive20 is expected to inherit features from the iX1 eDrive20. Anticipate a 10.7-inch driver’s screen and a 10.25-inch infotainment display equipped with BMW’s latest OS9 operating system. Embracing its sportier nature, the iX2 is likely to come standard with larger 18-inch wheels and window tints.

BMW enthusiasts can also look forward to additional paint finishes for all model variants of the X2 and iX2 starting from March 2024, allowing for greater personalisation and aesthetic expression.

As BMW continues to lead the charge in electrification, the iX2 eDrive20 promises a compelling combination of style, performance, and eco-conscious driving. Stay tuned for the arrival of this sporty coupe-SUV, as it joins the ranks of BMW’s innovative electric lineup, setting new standards for electric driving.
