The USA prepares for the return of the Toyota LandCruiser (Prado) and has released a retro teaser image.
After a two-year hiatus, the Toyota LandCruiser is set to make a comeback in the United States. The official reveal is now penciled in for August 2, when we will get to see what it looks like.
This model is tipped to show mostly what the Australia LandCruiser Prado will be.
The new Land Cruiser Prado is expected to debut in 2024, with a reveal anticipated later this year. Taking cues from the Lexus GX, which showcases boxy proportions and styling, the Toyota version may lean toward a more rugged and retro aesthetic.
Reports suggest that the LandCruiser Prado could come equipped with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder hybrid engine. With an estimated power output of around 250kW and torque of 550Nm, it will offer improved performance compared to the current Prado model available in Australia. Off-road enthusiasts can likely expect capable off-road capabilities and a continuation of the LandCruiser’s legacy.
The return of the LandCruiser Prado signifies Toyota’s commitment to celebrating its off-road heritage while addressing the previous model’s drawbacks. The new Land Cruiser Prado is expected to be a significant improvement over its aging predecessor, although it may come with a potentially higher price tag if the 300 Series is anything to go by.
As Toyota prepares to unveil the new model, we can expect a rugged and capable SUV that pays homage to the LandCruiser’s storied off-road history.
